# 1 - defining news
News is information about current events. News now a days and be find on the thing you use everyday. News is sometimes called " hard news". The English word "news" developed in the 14th century. As its name implies, "news" typically connotes the presentation of new information. The newness of news gives it an uncertain quality which distinguishes it from the more careful investigations oh history or other scholarly disciplines.
Whereas historians tend to view events as causally related manifestations of underlying processes, news stories tend to describe event in isolation and to exclude discussion of the present of immediate past. Before the invention of the newspaper's in the early 17th century, official government bulletins and edicts were circulated at times in some centralized empires. The deceptively simple question “What is news?” remains pertinent even as we ponder the future of journalism in the digital age.
An article examines news values within mainstream journalism and considers the extent to which news values may be changing since earlier landmark studies were undertaken.Identifying and recording the news values found within published pieces of journalism cannot provide a complete explanation of the journalistic process but that does not mean such study is without value. News values are worth studying because they inform the mediated world that is presented to news audiences, providing a shared shorthand operational understanding of what working journalists are required to produce too deadlines.
Online news therefore presents journalists with instant feedback about whether their news selection decisions marry with those of significant numbers of readers. A study of news factors operating in the German media by Wendell Engelmann, and Neubarth found internet and social media audiences to be less keen than journalists on politics and other stories of “social significance”. In a study of local online news, Schadt and Carpenter note that research about readers’ preference for soft or hard news, at least in the United States, is contradictory.
In conclusion news can be anything from newspapers to social media to even talking to your friends face to face. You can find to news anywhere. I find more news on my phone than I do on tv mainly because I am on my phone a lot. For me news is instagram and snapchat as someone who doesn't want regular tv.
