# 2 - Breaking news over 24 hour period

So much can happen over a 24 hour period. What took my interest in the breaking news over the last 24 hours were mainly sports so let's take a look.

D'Andre swift put in a dominant performance as the Philadelphia eagles punished an error-prone Minnesota viking on Thursday September 14, 2023. The scores was 34-28 win.

In his first home game since joining the eagles , the Philadelphia native ran for a career-high 175 rushing years and touchdown as the team's rushing attack routinely dissected the vikings defense.

swift , who arrived from the Detroit lions in the offseason, became the first eagle with 175 yards and touchdown on the ground since LeSean McCoy in 2013

it was another less-than convincing performance from last year's super owl runners- up, with some moments of sloppiness creeping into an offense that was so dynamic in 2022, despite beginning its season with two wins.  However , between Swift and quarter back Jalen hurts, the eagles were able to find enough explosive plays to keep Minnesota at bay.

Hurts looked towards his wide receiver DeVonta Smith  when he needed a big play, connecting with the third- year pass care on two 50- plus passes. it was 63-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter that gave Philadelphia a 27-7 lead.

Simone Biles wins her first competitive gymnastics even since 2021, qualifies for US national championships

In her first competitive event since 2021, legendary gymnast Simone Biles made a triumphant return, claiming first place in front of packed house at the Core Hydration Classic Saturday. The gymnastics superstar scored a 14.0 on the uneven bars, a 14.8 on the balance beam, a 14.9 in the floor exercise and a remarkable 15.4 in the vault before a roaring crowd in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, just outside Chicago.

During her floor routine, biles performed a double layout with a half turn. A move named after her, to earn score of 14.9. Biles then performed a Yuchenko double pike, considered the hardest women's vault in the world, to earn an impressive score of 15.4. She will need to preform the Yuchenko double pike in an International competition for it to be officially named after her.

Entering the final event , Biles needed a score of 10.350 to move into first place in the all-around completion. She finished 5 points ahead of second place finisher Leanne Wong , with all-around score of 59.1 and qualified for the US Championship in San Jose , California, later this month.

Competitors are scored on a combination of execution and difficulty, with total scores for each event typically filling in between 12 and 15. Being cheered on by the crowd , biles  reacted with a fist bump and her signature smile after finishing the final event.
