#10- Listening post
I didn't know what a listening post was but after reading some of the peoples post that took this class before me I think I have a good idea of what it is. I don't talk to a whole bunch of people. I have three people I talk to everyday and if I talk to more than that its because they have talked to me first. I mainly keep to myself and mind my business and try not to get in any trouble.
One of my main sources for my listening post is the SAU cheer team. During practice I am one of the main leaders that help the team and give them confident. If I am not having my own conversation then I am listening to other conversations on the low and getting all times of gossip and news. Us girls and talk and it is crazy how much we can find out in 30 minutes. We also communicate with each other through many different apps. we have a group chat on snap, iMessage and group me. Why do we have all these I don't know but we talk about different thing on all if them. Since everyone has different back ground of cheer we are able to see different ways to do some skills. It's great to have people to have been coached but different personalities and coaching styles.
when I thought about my connection with with listening post I also thought about my roommate and best friend Hailey. She and I came of different places and we help each other a lot. She see and notices things that I don't and I do the same thing for her. I like to bring Hailey home with me because I like to be around her and my family loves her too. I live in Little Rock and she live in Louisiana, so I like to tell her the good and bad things about Little Rock. Any time we go home and we take a drive I am always telling about the things that we pass and telling her all the food places that I like to eat. When we go to my home town cheer gym (CTR) I love watching her talk to the people that brought me to her in hopes that she loves them just like I do.
Another way that I hear about news around the campus is when I work at the informations desk in Reynolds. I barley know what's going on around campus as it is but when people pass by or just come and talk to me I am learning something different. Like for example I didn't know preview day is coming up and I most likely would have found out at cheer practice but when I hear two PA girls talking about it I was in shock that my cheer coach didn't tell us. he told us at practice but still, he didn't say that there would be up to 400 people coming. I also heard that from the PA girls. Since I work at the desk often people come up to me and ask question just about the campus. Sometimes I don't know the answer and I am leaning about the campus with them. The desk job as taught me a lot from learning how to give great directions just from my words, helped me to notice when someone it talking towards the desk so I am pause my music so I can hear them clearly and I always have to look like I want to be there cause if I don't then they won't answer my questions and they will be walking about here clueless.
